I'm back from OBS, or rather, ABS (Artward Bound Singapore). Why m i so particular abt whether its 'O' or 'A'? Coz, OBS & ABS r two different courses. Thou i've nv been to OBS, but hearing from wad my frenz who went b4, i conclude tt they r two VERY different coures..

I'm expecting to have a hectic 5 days camp initially. Tot i'm going to have some 'chiong sua chiong hai' activities (strenenous outdoor activities), I'm all ready to get slim down for my nxt trip - - To Pulau Redang, where i'll b wearing 2-piece for e 1st time in my life -whistle- ~wee~whee~ =X

But well, it turned out to b total opposite of wad i tot. Its reali very ART-ward. We've learned to appreciate different races' cultures, creating Colour Mass, using lots of our imagination n creativity in various activities and even time given for self - reflection..

Cool activities, cool instructors, cool camp-mates...
In short, a camp i never regret going & a camp i'll never forget... =)

Following is the itinery for the 5 days: (BEWARE~! Read this only if you are VERY free!..)

DAY 1
=> Reported at Fort Canning Green Gothic Gate at 9.27am
=> Tour of Fort Canning (Sally Port) and Fort wall where Gideon appeared
~Tied a rope around the wall and invited us to abseil down the wall
~Steven (Tour Guide) played along and insisted that it was against the safety regulation.
=> Proceeded to have a briefing by Shukor (Body Guard of Sang Nila Utama) about our filming(documentary) for the first 2 days.
=> Walked to Little India (20 Mins)
=> Lunch at Tekka Market
=> My group 'S' (Irene, Hsu, Joon, Moi, Judith[大妈], Chris[二妈], Patsy, Samuel, Sheena and myself) was assigned to learn Jasmine Garland Weaving {not easy man~ Patience!} from Jothi Flower Shop, while the other groups filmed the other aspects of the Indian Culture.
=> Walked over to Bugis Mrt Station to take a train to Changi Airport before transferring bus 36 to SparkC @ East Coast Park to spend the night.
=> Put our barang barang in the tree hut (Pluto) .
=>Proceeded to our 1st activity in SparkC : The Frame
~A frame was made by tying 4 poles together, and was hung between 2 trees.
~We were asked to describe ourselves using an imaginary portrait we painted.

DAY 2
=> Morning PT at 7am
=> Breakfast ~Beehoon + Hotdog
=> Calming / Relaxation Sequence
=> Colour Mass ~painting with hands
=> Pack up to leave SparkC
=> Off to Kampong Ubi CC Malay Heritage Centre (Bus 36 + walk)
=> Lunch at Joo Chiat Complex
=> Chinatown by bus 2
=> Tour of Chinese Heritage Centre (A MUST visit place for ALL chinese!)
~ Found out part of previous day's recordings were overwritten.
=> Made our way to Punggol Jetty by NEL and bus 82
=> Met Sang Nila Utama(acted by Steven) ~ Intro to Senario
=> Search for Temasek ~ ROWed part of the distance to Pulau Ubin
=> Enjoyed the Sunset
=> Dinner ~ Chinese Themed (Cheong sam!)
=> Proceeded to Learning room (Denali)
=> My Frame ~ framed up a little part from our Colour Mass, describe y u chose it.

DAY 3
=> Breakfast at 8am
=> Wrote emails at Denali
=> Crossfields ~ searching for checkpoints based on map navigation in OBS forest.
~ hiked over to OBS reservoir
=> Alpine Rescue ~ transport casualty through various obstacles
=> Lunch ~Malay Themed (Spicy!)
=> Set up cultural corners in Denali
~ Did Indian corner
=> Proceeded to "The Indiana" for 'Improvtheatre' - expression activity

~ communication through expressions
~ talked in gibberish according to emotions required
~ Chant with emotions:

Worms,

I hate worms.

They drive me crazy.

Crazy?

I was crazy once.

And they put me in a home.

Then I died.

And the worms got me. (Repeat)

=> The calm – casting briefing

~ Got the role ‘Nani’, a 44 years old nanny from England (classified as low-class ppl)
=> 6pm – 12am

~ Immerse in the role

~ Dinner at camp 1 starts

~Had only porridge + veg + Peanuts (while high-claz ppl r having Chicken chop with wine!)

=> Syonanto

~ Escaped from the Jap soldiers through jungle without lighting

~ Tunnel experience (Pitch Dark!)
=> Clay review –Care (a series of 3: Irene - Trust; Joon - Love)

DAY 4
=> Morning PT
=> Breakfast

Epilogue:

Away from the city,

to a place without much technology.

Meeting strangers,

to begin a journey unsure.

Getting to know each other,
Building friendship together.
Using our hands for painting,
that represent our feelings.

Through the jungles in groups we go,
in our mind we shared a common goal.
Through the darkness the leaders lead,
seeing brightness is all we plead.

Personal time given to ourselves,
bringing us closer to our inner self.
Getting to know our soul once again,
We leap forward for a new life begin.

Physical challenges were what I expect,
But psycological challenge was what i met.
Friendship closely knitted thru hard times,
Will remain in my heart all the time.
